The Microsoft .NET Framework allows the development of visually appealing applications in a reduced timescale whilst not compromising security, whether they be for the web or the desktop.

ASP.NET is a set of application development technologies specifically for the web that enables CIOS to build dynamic Web sites and applications, and more technical background components such as XML Web services. C# is the programming language that CIOS use in conjunction with ASP.NET to perform complex validation or processing of data.

Web applications can be made more responsive by the use of AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), which means that the entire web-page does not have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change. ASP.NET also includes a toolkit which includes a number of attractive, reusable controls which improve the interactive web experience.

Of course you need a database to store and retrieve the information within your application. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 can be used either for departmental systems (using the Express edition) or for large corporate systems. Hence you can be confident that the system can grow with you. All data within your database can then be efficiently searched or reported on as required.
